The indecision over how to heat the super insulated barn meant that the old boiler and it's plumbing was staying. The the total lack of help from the electricity supplier also meant that the old power supply was not being moved, A new boiler room was a good design decision. It added an extra layer of insulation to the corner of the barn whilst providing extra storage and leaving other heating options open.

- Description: Leaving the old boiler in situ was a problem. It could not be removed and the wall insulated as it was not possible to find a flue extension long enough for this model. Easy access would also be needed to the boiler plumbing. The solution was to build a fully insulated but removable liner. This left all the options regaring the boiler and electricity supply open for the future.

Description:
The spaces between the wall studs was insulated and then plaster boarded. As it had not been possible to fully super insulate the walls of the barn in this corner the boiler room was a good solution. Providing another layer of insulation, storage and space for extra plumbing if an air source heat pump (ashp) was chosen as backup for the super insulated barn.
